How to Calculate Your Room Area.

Nouveau Woodblock

So you are about to renovate your spare bedroom or living room, and buy some fabulous new flooring, however you have no idea how much to order.  Does this sound familiar?

If it does, don’t worry our little explanation will help you calculate the square meterage of your room in no time.

If you measure in metres it very simple just multiply the length of the room by the width of the room and you have the square meterage of your room.

Take the Example of a room above, multiply the Length x Width = Area

Eample;

 5m x 4m = 20m.

Therefore the area of the room in the example above is 20 square metres.  So you will need to order at least 20 sq. metres of flooring for the room above.

Well what if I am still working in Yards?

No problem, same concept, just measure the Length x Width = Area.

Example:

5yards x 4yards = 20sq. yards

Well what if I am still working in Feet?

Again the Same Concept but this one requires a little more math;-)

Example:

Length is 12ft and width is 10ft –

12ft x 10ft = 120 square feet.

Then to bring this back to square yards, just divide it by 9, as there are 9 sq. feet in a square yard.

So we have 120sq.feet then divide that by 9 = 13.33 sq. yards

Well we hope that helps a bit, if you have any questions or need some help just give us a buzz and we will be happy to assist you.
